Spoiler alert: You can elope and still include your family. Shocking, I know. But eloping doesn’t mean ditching your loved ones—it just means creating a wedding day that actually feels like you. Whether you want your fam there to witness your vows, celebrate later with a cozy dinner, or hike up a mountain together (because why not?), there are so many ways to include them.
This guide is packed with elopement ideas with family so you can craft a day that’s intimate, stress-free, and absolutely unforgettable. Because let’s be real—elopements are about celebrating love without the pressure of a massive production, and if your people make that celebration better, bring ‘em along.
Let’s be honest—traditional weddings can be a logistical nightmare (seating charts? No thanks). Eloping gives you the freedom to do whatever the hell you want while still having your closest people by your side. Including family can:
✅ Make it extra meaningful – Sharing this moment with loved ones can create memories that hit different.
✅ Be a happy medium – You get the intimate, stress-free elopement vibe and your family gets to be part of it. Win-win.
✅ Add to the fun – Whether it’s your parents, siblings, or besties, having your crew there can make the day even better.
And if you’re worried about family drama? That’s a whole other conversation (but I promise, we can work around it).
If the idea of a full-blown wedding makes you break out in stress hives, but you do want to include family, here are some ways to keep the day true to you:
Now, let’s get into some specific ideas based on what your family dynamic looks like.
If you have kids, your elopement isn’t just about you—it’s about them, too. Including your little ones can make the day even more special (and adorable).
👶 Make them part of the ceremony – Let them walk you down the aisle, hold the rings, or even say a few words.
📖 Read vows to them – Because they’re part of this love story, too.
🎨 Incorporate kid-friendly activities – Think beach picnics, flower crown making, or roasting s’mores after the ceremony.
📸 Have a first-look moment with them – Cue the tears.
Challenges? Yeah, eloping with kids means extra logistics. Naps, snacks, and entertainment are key. But trust me, those candid moments of them being themselves? Worth it.
Merging two families is a big deal, and your elopement is the perfect way to make everyone feel included from day one.
🫶 Have a unity ritual – A sand ceremony, handfasting, or even just a family toast can be a meaningful touch.
🎁 Give family gifts – Custom jewelry, letters, or keepsakes for the kids can make them feel extra special.
🎨 Create a new tradition – Whether it’s lighting a candle together or taking a post-ceremony hike, start something that’s uniquely yours.
The key? Making sure every kid (and family member) feels seen, included, and part of the love fest.
Want to say your vows on top of a mountain, by a waterfall, or deep in the desert? Hell yeah, let’s do it. And yes, you can totally bring family along—if they’re up for the adventure.
🏔️ Choose an accessible location – If your fam isn’t into hardcore hiking, pick a scenic spot that’s easy to reach.
🚙 Rent cool transportation – Jeep, helicopter, boat—there are so many ways to get to a rad location with family.
🔥 Have a campfire celebration – Gather around, share stories, eat good food, and soak in the moment.
📸 Do an adventure session post-ceremony – If the hike is too much for some family members, they can celebrate at a nearby spot while you go explore for epic photos.
Adventure elopements = no rules. Just stunning views, unforgettable moments, and the best damn way to start married life.

Let's do this thing
I literally have no words. Natalie is so amazing and talented, and not to mention how kind she is. She has outdone herself! My pregnancy has actually been pretty hard, so it actually brings me to tears to have such beautiful photos to remember it with. I am so so grateful for these beautiful keepsakes.

Natalie and her husband are amazing! My hubby does not enjoy taking photos. Natalie was able to make us feel at ease and have fun with our session. She went above and beyond! I was expecting the typical sit here, pose this way, smile, click. NOPE! She asked us intimate questions about our lives. She played music that we love. She created an atmosphere and a mood that made our anniversary photos an experience. We are so thankful for the memories she helped us to create. Also her unique artistry in how she photographed us. I’m in love with the results. Thank you Natalie and Nate 💖
