Listen, I’ve photographed a lot of weddings, but this Northern Idaho micro wedding? Pure magic. It was a retro, eclectic, pastel dreamland with handmade details, killer fashion choices, and an atmosphere that screamed let’s get weird and have the best time ever.

Set on the bride’s family property overlooking a canyon, this wasn’t just a wedding—it was an entire weekend of love, creativity, and vibes so good they should be illegal. And the details? Absolute perfection. Think a lemonade truck, a margarita slushie machine (because obviously), thrifted glassware, a DIY guest book on a vintage typewriter, and a build-your-own taco buffet. Yeah, you’re gonna want to keep reading.

A retro, eclectic pastel micro wedding in Northern Idaho, full of epic vibes, and a two-day celebration you don’t want to miss.

First off, the fashion. The groom rocked a pastel pink suit with a heart-shaped bolo tie, and the bride stunned in a 100% cotton wedding dress from France—because sustainability, baby! But the real cherry on top? They both wore matching Doc Martens because comfort and style exist in the same universe, and these two mastered it.

The decor was a DIY fever dream in the best way possible. Everything was painted in soft pastel pinks, from the signage to the hand-lettered menus. Every piece of glassware and tableware was thrifted—because the bride was adamant about keeping things eco-friendly. The reception tables? One giant, long family-style setup where everyone gathered, laughed, and toasted to the newlyweds under the stars.

Forget traditional seating—this couple went full country romance with haybales covered in blankets for their ceremony. The groom’s mom officiated a deeply personal handfasting ceremony (for those unfamiliar, it’s an ancient ritual where the couple’s hands are literally tied together to symbolize their bond). It was emotional, intimate, and deeply them.

And because this wedding was about blending the sentimental with the wildly fun, the bride’s dad gave them a haybale ride back to the main property for the reception. Because why take a limo when you can take a tractor?

If you’re not dreaming of a build-your-own taco buffet at your wedding, what are you even doing? These two knew what was up. Tacos in one hand, margarita slushies in the other—it was a damn good time.

Instead of a cake cutting, they went with something even better: a full-on pie table stacked with different varieties. Cherry, apple, key lime—you name it. They cut into their favorite and then let everyone feast like it was a holiday at Grandma’s house.

After dinner, the couple shared their first dance to “In Spite of Ourselves” by John Prine and Iris DeMent, which is objectively the most adorable, cheeky love song ever written. The kind of song that makes you laugh and tear up.

The party didn’t stop after the wedding day. These two wanted to soak up every last second of that just-married high, so the next day, we headed to a secluded river spot for a laid-back session—just them, the trees, and the water.

They ran barefoot through the woods, danced like nobody was watching, and eventually jumped into the river to cool off. It was carefree, romantic, and exactly the kind of magic that makes an engagement or wedding session feel like an indie movie.

Oh, and just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, we spotted a mama moose and her calf in the distance. And then, as we were leaving, we saw five more bull moose under the stars. If that’s not a wedding weekend finale straight out of a fairy tale, I don’t know what is.

If reading this has you thinking, Damn, I need my wedding to feel like this, then congratulations—you’re my kind of couple. Here’s why I’m the right photographer for you:

  • I get it. You want a wedding that feels like you, not a copy-paste version of someone else’s. My job? To capture that energy in the most natural, cinematic way possible.
  • I know how to keep things stress-free. Micro weddings should feel fun and easy, not like a chaotic checklist. I’ll help you plan, find epic locations, and roll with whatever happens.
  • I’m all about storytelling. Your photos should feel like scenes from a movie—timeless, nostalgic, and effortlessly cool. That’s exactly what I deliver.

Let’s be real: if you’re putting this much thought and creativity into your wedding, you need a photographer who gets it. Lucky for you, that’s me.

So, are we doing this or what? Whether you’re planning a Northern Idaho micro wedding that’s retro, eclectic, boho, or just totally you, I’m ready to capture every weird, wonderful, wildly fun moment.

A Retro Eclectic Pastel Micro Wedding Weekend in Northern Idaho

Let's do this thing

I literally have no words. Natalie is so amazing and talented, and not to mention how kind she is. She has outdone herself! My pregnancy has actually been pretty hard, so it actually brings me to tears to have such beautiful photos to remember it with. I am so so grateful for these beautiful keepsakes.

Natalie and her husband are amazing! My hubby does not enjoy taking photos. Natalie was able to make us feel at ease and have fun with our session. She went above and beyond! I was expecting the typical sit here, pose this way, smile, click. NOPE! She asked us intimate questions about our lives. She played music that we love. She created an atmosphere and a mood that made our anniversary photos an experience. We are so thankful for the memories she helped us to create. Also her unique artistry in how she photographed us. I’m in love with the results. Thank you Natalie and Nate 💖
