Some weddings are all about the glitz and glam, the big ballrooms, and the fancy five-course meals. And then there are the weddings that just get it—simple, fun, and unapologetically cool. Enter: this retro drive-in elopement in Idaho, where neon lights, a hot pink dress, and a heart-shaped cake devoured with bare hands made for a wedding day that felt like a scene straight out of a classic American love story.
If the idea of exchanging vows over burgers and shakes, bathed in the glow of old-school neon, makes your heart skip a beat, buckle up because this one’s for you. Let’s dive into how this badass couple turned a nostalgic date night vibe into the ultimate elopement experience.
Eloping has never been about following the rules, and a retro drive-in elopement in Idaho is the perfect middle finger to wedding traditions that don’t feel like you. Picture this: you roll up in a vintage car, order your go-to diner meal, and say your vows while sipping on a milkshake with two straws. It’s giving Grease, but make it 2025.
This couple fully leaned into the retro aesthetic—because if you’re gonna elope at a drive-in, you better go all in. They rocked up to Westside Drive-In, a Boise staple with neon lights that screamed vintage romance. And honestly? The result was a wedding day that felt effortless, fun, and 100% them.
If you’re planning a retro drive-in elopement in Idaho, you need the right setting. Enter Westside Drive-In, a Boise icon where the pink and blue neon lights glow just right, giving off serious old-school diner vibes. It’s been around since 1957, making it the perfect place to get that nostalgic-but-still-cool aesthetic.
🚗 Accessibility: Pull up, park, elope. It’s that easy.
🌟 Best Time to Elope Here: Right after sunset, when the neon is popping.
🍦 Bonus: They have a freaking ice cream potato on the menu. Just saying.
Listen, if you’re gonna ditch the big white dress, you might as well do it in style. This couple absolutely understood the assignment.
👗 The Fit: A hot pink wedding dress that was both bold and effortlessly cool. It was giving main character energy, and honestly, we were all obsessed.
👕 The Vibes: White vest and linen pants—laid-back, but still looking damn good.
💡 The Overall Aesthetic: Retro, rebellious, and effortlessly chic.
Because let’s be real—if you’re eloping at a drive-in, you need a look that says we are the moment.
Forget a stuffy wedding meal—this couple opted for the classics. They split a burger, shared some crispy fries, and washed it down with a thick milkshake, all while soaking in the neon lights.
And then? The cake smash.
This wasn’t just any cake. It was a vintage-inspired heart cake, and instead of politely cutting slices, they went full feral and ate it with their hands. Because if you’re not getting a little frosting on your face, are you even living?
Sold on the idea of eloping at a drive-in? Here’s how to pull it off:
1️⃣ Pick Your Spot – Westside Drive-In is an Idaho classic, but any neon-lit, old-school diner could work. Just make sure it has the right vibe.
2️⃣ Go All In on the Theme – Vintage-inspired outfits? Check. Classic car rental? Hell yes. The more details you add, the better.
3️⃣ Plan for Lighting – The best photos happen right after sunset when the neon starts glowing.
4️⃣ Embrace the Mess – Skip the utensils, smash the cake, and let go of perfection. The magic is in the chaos.
5️⃣ Hire the Right Photographer – Speaking of…

Let's do this thing
I literally have no words. Natalie is so amazing and talented, and not to mention how kind she is. She has outdone herself! My pregnancy has actually been pretty hard, so it actually brings me to tears to have such beautiful photos to remember it with. I am so so grateful for these beautiful keepsakes.

Natalie and her husband are amazing! My hubby does not enjoy taking photos. Natalie was able to make us feel at ease and have fun with our session. She went above and beyond! I was expecting the typical sit here, pose this way, smile, click. NOPE! She asked us intimate questions about our lives. She played music that we love. She created an atmosphere and a mood that made our anniversary photos an experience. We are so thankful for the memories she helped us to create. Also her unique artistry in how she photographed us. I’m in love with the results. Thank you Natalie and Nate 💖
